Interview - How to bring your spirituality to work? (Track 1 Free Session)
A Talk by Helena Demuynck and Jackie Trottmann
About this Talk
Do you give any thought to spirituality? If so, is spirituality integrated into all areas of your life, especially work? Why does it matter?
What does spirituality mean anyway? I love this definition:
Spirituality is the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.
In a Gallop poll called The State of the Global Workplace, 85% of employees are not engaged or are actively disengaged at work. The reason why? Their jobs are soul-sucking, sucking the life out of them.
In a Forbes article on the 20 people skills you need to succeed at work, among these are: the ability to relate to others, patience, trust, empathy, listening, good judgment, awareness of body language and voice tone, good manners, honesty.
If you are lucky, you have leaders who lead with these skills. In my experience of 30 years in corporate America, I can tell you that I worked with very few leaders and mostly managers who pushed paper and their people using few of these skills. Work sucked the life out of me causing me to flee from corporate life as if running away from a burning building to save my life.
The Christian faith describes fruits of the Spirit as: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
These align very nicely with the Forbes people skills.
We are made up of a body, mind and spirit. To feel fulfilled, you need to integrate all three, especially when it comes to incorporating spirituality into your work.
During our time together, I’ll share how to do that so you can experience greater joy, success, and fulfillment in whatever work you do.
